"My mom always said the world needs more than just good musicians. She said we need good people."

Victor

Victor Lemonte Wooten is a born bassist–literally. Born the youngest of five boys, his four older brothers knew that they would be adding Victor to the family band even before their youngest brother had arrived. Oldest brother Regi gave Victor an instrument to play once the youngest Wooten reached the tender age of two. Victor began performing in nightclubs and theaters as the bassist with the family band at age five and was on tour with his brothers opening shows for legendary soul artist Curtis Mayfield when he was only six years old. Soon after, he was affectionately known as the 8-year-old Bass Ace.

Wooten, now a five-time Grammy winner, hit the worldwide scene in 1990 as a founding member of the super-group BĂ©la Fleck and the Flecktones. Continuing to blaze trails with his own tours and Grammy nominated records, Victor has broadened his horizons by contributing to the world in many different ways.

Currently, Victor has authored two published novels: The Music Lesson-A Spiritual Search for Growth Through Music and The Spirit of Music-The Lesson Continues. Both can be found anywhere books and audiobooks can be purchased.

Among other things, Victor L. Wooten is a loving husband and father of four. He is also a dedicated educator in both music and nature. In 2011, Rolling Stone Magazine voted Victor one of the Top Ten Bassist of ALL TIME. In 2019, The Huffington Post named Victor one of America’s “50 Iconic Black Trailblazers Who Represent Every State in America.” Wooten represented his birth state of Idaho.
