Victor Wooten, Berklee Performance Scholar in Residence, is a multiple Grammy Award winner and a founding member of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. He has been called the most influential bassist of the last 2 decades. His recent solo release, "Trypnotyx", features Bob Franceschini and Dennis Chambers in a trio format.
Steve Bailey, Berklee Chair of Bass, has played and recorded with Dizzy Gillespie, The Rippingtons, Jethro Tull, and Willie Nelson to name a few. He is a pioneer of the six string fretless bass and his techniques are studied around the world. His most recent solo release, Carolina, features a series of duets with the likes of Willie Nelson, Ron Carter, Ian Anderson, Mike Stern, Dennis Chambers, and more.
Together ,they formed Bass Extremes in 1992 releasing their self titled debut which was one of the top selling bass products of all time. Subsequent DVD and CD releases followed as they toured the world performing clinics and concerts. For 2 decades they have been offering Victor Wooten’s Bass/Nature Camp, and Bass at the Beach; both bass intensive camps, drawing students from all over the world. Despite their hectic individual schedules they still devote time and energy to this unique ensemble whose title says it all; BASS EXTREMES!
Thru the Pandemic, and with the support of Berklee College of Music, this duo has constantly pursued a higher standard of interaction and communication which has resulted in the effective use of affordable technology that takes their performances and presentations to the next level.
Their new Bass Extremes album, slated for release August 26, 2022, returns to the “original trio” with drummer Gregg Bissonette. It features, in subtle and dazzling ways, Ron Carter, Marcus Miller, Edgar Meyer, Oteil Burbridge, John Patitucci, and more.
Celebrating this release, Steve, Victor, and Gregg will be touring worldwide throughout 2022 and 2023. Look for them on a stage near you!
